Who we are
This website is run by Tredgold Digital Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales with company number 16955781. We are the data controller for the personal data described in this policy, which means we decide how and why it is used.
If you have any questions about this policy or your personal data, email us at hello@tredgolddigital.com.
We are registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) under registration reference ZC156526.
What we collect
When you use our contact form, we collect your full name, your email address and what you tell us about your business, along with anything else you choose to include in your message.
When you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you include in your message.
If you become a client, we keep the contact and billing details we need to deliver our work and invoice you.
When you visit the site, our hosting provider automatically processes technical information that every website needs to work, such as your IP address, browser and device type, the page you asked for and the time of your visit. This is used to deliver the site and keep it secure.
Fonts. The site loads its fonts from Google Fonts. To do this, your browser connects to Google's servers, which means Google receives your IP address and basic browser information.
We do not use analytics or tracking tools on this website.
Why we use it, and our lawful basis
UK data protection law says we must have a lawful basis for using your personal data. We rely on the following:
- Replying to your enquiry. We use your details to respond to you and discuss your needs. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in answering enquiries about our services, or taking steps at your request before entering into a contract with you.
- Working with clients. If you become a client, we use your details to deliver the work we have agreed and to manage our relationship with you. Our lawful basis is the performance of our contract with you.
- Meeting legal obligations. We keep some records, such as invoices and accounts, because the law requires us to. Our lawful basis is compliance with a legal obligation.
- Running and securing the website. Technical information about visits is processed to deliver the site and protect it from misuse. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in running a secure website.
We do not use your details for marketing, and we never sell your personal data.
Who we share it with
We use a small number of trusted providers to run this website and our business. They act on our instructions and may only use your data to provide their service to us.
- Netlify, Inc. hosts this website and receives and stores messages sent through the contact form. As part of its service, Netlify automatically checks form submissions for spam using Akismet.
- Google provides the fonts used on the site through Google Fonts (see "What we collect").
- Namecheap, Inc. provides our email service (Private Email), so emails you send to us, and replies we send you, pass through and are stored on its systems. A copy of each contact form message is also emailed to us at hello@tredgolddigital.com.
We may also share personal data where the law requires it, for example with HMRC or other public authorities.
International transfers
Netlify, Google and Namecheap are based in the United States, so your personal data may be transferred to and stored outside the UK. Where this happens, it is protected by safeguards recognised under UK data protection law:
- Netlify relies on the UK Extension to the EU–US Data Privacy Framework, and otherwise on the UK International Data Transfer Addendum, under its data processing agreement.
- Google is certified under the UK Extension to the EU–US Data Privacy Framework, and uses standard contractual clauses where required.
- Namecheap relies on standard contractual clauses under its data processing terms.
How long we keep it
- Enquiries that don't lead to work are kept for 6 months after our last contact with you, then deleted.
- Client records are kept for as long as we work together, and financial records for at least six years after the end of the financial year they relate to, as UK law requires.
- Technical visit data is kept by our hosting provider in line with its own retention policy.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you and receive a copy.
- Rectification: ask us to correct data that is wrong or incomplete.
- Erasure: ask us to delete your data.
- Restriction: ask us to limit how we use your data.
- Portability: ask for your data in a commonly used format, or for us to send it to another organisation.
- Objection: object to us using your data where we rely on legitimate interests.
- Withdraw consent at any time, where we rely on your consent.
Some of these rights only apply in certain circumstances. To use any of them, email hello@tredgolddigital.com. There is no charge, and we will reply within one month.
Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your personal data, please contact us first so we can try to put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK's data protection regulator, at ico.org.uk.
